Falkor The Luck Dragon
After all the time and effort
that we have put in to get a boat of our own we thought that it deserved a special
name worthy of it.
The children wanted to call it
The Never Ending Story but practicality dictated that it had to be a
shorter name. Imagine being stranded on a river and having to spell
out The Never Ending Story in phonetics over the vhf radio,
anything could have happened before you get to the end.
For anyone who has ever watched
and understood the film The Never Ending Story its content fits our
project. For those of you who have never watched the film it’s the
story of one child’s journey through Fantasia by finding courage and
strength until he reaches his final goal of giving the princess a name
to save Fantasia from destruction. Along the way he finds many friends
and has many adventures. One of the most alluring characters in the
film is Falkor.
Falkor looks like a large floppy
dog that can fly. He is actually a Luck Dragon who gives you a feeling
of safety and security. He is also always there when he is called and
rescues the child from harm on a number of occasions. We, as a
project, can identify with this character and we are hoping that by
naming the boat after him we may inherit some of his luck.
